ForeignSo I took my right hand in my left one and looked at it for real this time. I don’t know why, but for the first time in years I managed to feel like it part of me, for a second. I could see all the little veins climbing up my arm thru the wrist and up to the tip of my fingers, and the perfect fusion between the arm and the palm, and just for one second I wasn’t afraid. I swear to god. There’s nothing inside. I have nothing in me.
I could feel it for years. When everybody would laugh, I’d pretend to be amused as well. When they wanted to have fun, I went along with it. when they wanted me to study, I did. When they wanted to party, I did. When they wanted to move on, stay put, go out, go up, go nowhere, I’d always cooperate, but it wasn’t real, it was never real. The walls weren’t there for me. I couldn’t touch them, or anything else. I couldn’t hear the music or taste the food or smell the ashes in the air or feel anything at all.
